A Message From Our District President
All in for 2015
" The end of all things is
at hand, therefore be self-controlled and sober-minded for the sake of your
prayers. Above all, keep loving one another earnestly since love covers a
multitude of sins."
1 Peter 4: 7-8.
The Lord Jesus Christ will return.
No one knows the day or the hour. The Church anticipates the arrival as a bride
waiting for the groom to appear. It will happen. When Jesus comes back it is
the end of everything as we know it this side of heaven. All creation
anticipates the day. The time of sin, death and sorrow ends. An eternity of
life, celebration, joy unending awaits the believer in Christ.
Scripture tells us how we should prepare. The time is at hand. Frivolity,
epicurean feasts and sexual excesses overwhelm the senses. Over indulgence,
gluttony, drunkenness and drug abuse dull the mind. Work becomes the vehicle to
fund holidays and weekends. The vocation of loving one's neighbor as one's self
is lost. Living for today makes little preparation for tomorrow. It's easy to
follow idols, false gods, of our choosing.
The modern temples with their gods
and allegiances require the sacrifice of time and wealth. The proper ceremonial clothing must be worn
on game days. Special meals are prepared and traditional beverages consumed. No
longer is Sunday the exclusive day of worship. The NFL plays on Monday and
Thursday nights too. The NBA, MLB or the NHL make any day a "holy"
day for its observances. The dress
codes, meals and rituals vary slightly according to the peculiar customs of
each. A new year brings with it hope that this might be the season for teams
long out of championship form to win it all. Is this what the Lord has in mind
for approaching the end of all things? Read more!
